Everything and Nothing...

I should be doing my homework...but I did this instead

Take that Geography homework!!

The Faab Five

Lately I have been missing these kids a ton! These are my writing buddies, Jonny, Erika, Jennie, and Thomas. I took Creative Writing for all three years of high school, and a big part of why it became my favorite is because of these kiddos! And of course the wonderful Mrs. Horstmann (aka the greatest teacher of all time.) We actually framed this picture for her, and wrote on the frame, "Mrs. H's Favorites." And of course, it still sits in her classroom, because let's face it, we really are her favorites! On top of them being my writing buddies, they were also my Golden Leaves staff when I was Editor. It is a good thing we were Horstmann's favorites, because we REALLY were crazy. We spent most of our time in the back room, where we pretty much did almost everything except writing. We jousted with rolling chairs, quoted Phineas and Ferb, had dance parties. But when we did write, it was always something great! For our last project, we were allowed to do a project together, in which we wrote a play about Green Jello taking over the world. To simply put it, it is probably one of the most epic things ever written, no big deal. We are going to make it into a movie. So expect us to be making an appearance at the 2013 Oscars!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

CHRISTMAS!!!

For my entire life, my Grandma has made it a Thanksgiving tradition to give each member of my family a new ornament. She has worked at Tina's Hallmark for as long as I can remember, so every year we get our very own brand new ornament to hang on our Christmas tree.

Here is a portion of my collection!
I have a lot of fairy ornaments,
Each year I get a new one to add to my series.
But my favorite ornament is the Alice in Wonderland teapot!
Alice is actually inside the teapot!
Then of course there are the ornaments of my childhood,
My American Girl ornament, Molly.
The vintage Barbie.
I absolutely love them all.

And this year my Grammy gave me a Michael Scott bobblehead ornament!
He talks and everything!

He came to school with me.
The rest are on my tree back in Kaysville.
My mom actually puts up two trees.
One for our Hallmark ornaments,
And one with our fancy ornaments.
It can be said that we definitely have the Christmas Spirit in the Jackson House!

Turkey Day!

Being able to spend this last week at home has literally been SPECTACULAR! Thanksgiving in particular was one of the best yet. I feel like this whole week I have, not to sound too cliche, been getting in touch with my inner child. Not just my Rugrats marathon, but everything.

On Thanksgiving Day, I played dress up with my Sadie-Lou, and Ty. I was a princess, gypsy, salsa dancer, doctor, and minnie mouse!

The day before with the same kiddos, I watched The Little Mermaid 2, played superheroes (while playing Sadie taught me how to find my inner peace, and showed me how to meditate! Haha, such a funny girl!), and fought an evil green gooey monster.

I played with this little munchkin, and had a war of exchanging raspberry kisses. And, by the way, how cute is she?! I love my little Ireland!

Also, off of the subject, look at this scrumptious pie I made for dessert! Black Bottom Cream Pie. A delicious concoction of fudge, pudding, bananas, whipped cream, and pie crust. I think I may have discovered a new Thanksgiving hit! I love being back at home where I actually have the ingredients to bake. I don't think I have mentioned before, but I love to bake. I love it!

Well I hope everyone has had a fantastic Thanksgiving, and has found their inner child like me haha. Peace and blessings!

Keva Time!

What is one of the best things about being back in Davis County for the weekend? Going to Keva Juice, one of the greatest smoothie joints in the world! And what is my flavor of choice?? The Tribal Princess! A yummy combination of peach, guava, orange, strawberry, and pineapple.

Reptar Bars!

"Reptar bar, Reptar bar, the candy bar supreme! The candy bar that turns your tongue gre-e-en!"
-Angelica

Yes! To top off my Rugrats Ann
ual Marathon, this year I discovered a way to make the infamous Reptar bars! Might I also add that they are absolutely delicious. No wonder the babies love them so much!
You first start out with a layer of melted chocolate, sprinkle some toffee chips on top- then freeze it. Add some green food coloring to some marshmallow fluff, and put it on top of the chocolate. Drizzle some caramel on top of the fluff. Freeze it. And lastly, pour some chocolate on top for the final layer.

And then, voila! You have some Reptar Bars!! The candy bar supreme that turns your tongue green!
And since I was feeling especially artistic, I made some wrappers too! Pretty authentic, huh?

Rugrats Time!

Hold on to your dipies babies! It's time for Danielle and Gavbo's annual Rugrats Marathon!!
Every year on Thanksgiving, my brother Gavin and I start our very own Rugrats Marathon! Rugrats is my all-time favorite childhood show. So much so that I still enjoy watching it as an 18 year old girl. When I watch Rugrats, it takes me back to a time when imagination ran rampant, and adventure was at an all-time high. It is when I watch it that I feel most like a kid once again. So every year, Gavin and I turn on our favorite childhood memories, hold on to our metaphorical dipies, and let our adventures begin once again. For one week, we allow ourselves to delve into our past, and become kids, if only for a small time.

Never Too Much- Part lll

FUNNY GIRL!

If you could not tell from the title of my blog, I am an avid lover of Funny Girl. More than anything, I love Barbra Streisand! The woman has the most spectacular voice, and I simply cannot get enough of it! From Funny Girl, to Hello Dolly!, to Yentil, to What's Up Doc?; I absolutely adore the woman. But out of all things Barbra, Funny Girl takes the lead. I can watch Funny Girl over and over and over again, and never get sick of it. I sing and quote along word for word. And still, each time I watch I find myself tearing up when Fanny sings 'My Man' at the very end. I find certain similarities between myself and Fanny, and I think that makes it all the more personal and deep to me. Often people will find me listening or singing to the Funny Girl soundtrack. The entire soundtrack is basically all in my 25 Most Played songs on ITunes- 'I'm the Greatest Star' and 'Don't Rain on My Parade' top the list at #1 and #2. I have 'I'm the Greatest Star' memorized word for word, and can sing it perfectly from memory. I am known to sing it to my cousins as I lull them to sleep when I babysit. I am mesmerized by Funny Girl, and the lovely Barbra; I simply cannot get enough.

The Freetime of a College Student

It is known that poorness and college student go hand and hand. So what do we poor college students do in our free time??? Why we do some super crazy things of course! And here are a few!

Halloween!
This year my roommates and I went to the Howl. I recycled a costume that I had previously worn a few years ago, and I was set. But before we went to the party, we got a visit from our neighbor, Quinton, who we helped to become a woman (for Halloween of course.) I curled his hair, helped him pick our some lipstick, and we all showed him the best way to walk in a pair of pumps.

Diwali!
This year, it was my idea to celebrate Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. Now where did I get this idea, you ask? Why, The Office of course! Where I get most of my fantastic ideas! So I made some fabulous fliers, featuring Michael Scott, and his Diwali song; and then delivered them to the people of my building. When the day came, my roommates and I wore the most festive Indian-like clothing we could, and blasted some Indian music. We decorated our living room with lanterns, and made a plethora of treats. We then did some great interpretive dancing, and watched the Diwali episode of The Office. Although we only had three people stop on by, I can definitely be said that us girls of 203 had the most fantastic time!

Toga Time!A few weeks ago there was a costume party hosted by the Hockey teams that my roommate Megan and I were going to attend. I decided to go last minute, and therefore used the signature last minute costume idea- a toga! Blue sheet, and a purple scarf, plus a little bit of artistic drapery; I was set. Although the party ended up being super lame, like crazy boys wearing tutus and fairy wings- and nothing else...yep. Needless to say, we left pretty early, haha. Even though the party was pretty lame, I got to toga it up for a whole night.
In the meantime of all this craziness, I do one of my favorite things, which is watch Boy Meets World. Which of course is my favorite show of all time. I have a great love for this show, such a love in fact that I made a Boy Meets World quote wall in my room during my free time. So every night before I go to bed I can read my favorite, mostly inspirational quotes from my favorite show. And at the top of the quotes, I have written 'Danielle Meets World.' I think it is pretty great!

And of course in between my free time, I am dutifully studying of course.
